This weekend was a total blur. It happened SO fast! We were very BLESSED to have a ton of our families here for Jack's baptism weekend.
I had such high hopes and major plans for this weekend. Lots of food, Easter fun...a relaxing time for me to get a break while the Grandma's held Jack and the cousins played with Layla. WRONG! Jack had the worst day of his life on Saturday. I was so bummed that no one really got to see our happy, giggly and smiley Jack. He refused to eat ALL day...shots? hunger strike since we've been pushing a bottle? Teeth? I don't know but it was terrible. I was so looking forward to a break and all I got was a day full of worrying about what the heck was wrong. I'm still glad help was here or I would have really lost it.
Grammy with grumpy gills:
Layla opening one of her MANY Easter gifts:
Her new favorite thing, Mini. She's a little cookie drunk in this picture...I think her mouth was full of cookies!
I swear I silently prayed all day that Jack wasn't getting sick and would be in a better mood for his baptism. He finally gave in and ate around 9 that night and woke up his happy, handsome self! Whew! Here he is with Gma Barton before his big moment:
Thanks for taking GREAT pictures Uncle Eric!
About 2 minutes before Pastor Mike started Jack got crabby (figures). But he still did great!
It was a great service and we were so excited to not only have Jack baptized, but also become members of our church.
After the baptism we invited all our Midland friends (our family away from family) over for lunch. I was terrible at getting pictures because I was busy eating or feeding Jack. :( I did snap this one of our adorable little girl:
And there's a great big smile for Uncle Chris, Jack's Godfather.
Gma and Gpa Barton:
Sweet Aunt Ash!
Photographer of the day, Uncle Eric. Check out Jack's baptism hair!
Gma and Gpa Rosco...as you can see in Jack's face, it was all downhill from there...
Grandma's always have the magic touch. Thank God for Grammy taking over! Gramps- I didn't have a single picture of you and Jack on my camera and I forgot to get mine out when we took a picture of you guys with his blanket. I need a copy off your camera!! ;o)
Before leaving we tried to get a picture of all the cousins. Layla wasn't feeling it. LOL
Even though my kiddos weren't 100%, we still had a GREAT weekend. I'm so thankful for everyone that came to visit and make this weekend special. And to our church friends/family for welcoming us. We are so very blessed to have each and every one of you in our lives! We love you ALL!!
PS- Next time, we WILL be in better moods!! ;o)

Jack is 4 Months!
Jack is 4 months old! Our baby boy has grown SO much this month. Jack is consistently rolling over from his back to tummy. Odd because he's been going from his tummy to back since he was about 3 days old but hasn't been consistent with it...I really thought he'd "get" that way first. But we know my kids don't do things the "normal" way. ;o)
He is also a champ at holding up his head and love to sit up on Mommy or Daddy's lap and watch his big sis. We FINALLY got some solid giggles out of him yesterday! I LOOOOVE that sound:
Jack is weighing in around 18lbs on our home scale...his doctor appointment is tomorrow so we'll have an official weigh in there. My guess is 99-100% for weight. This boy LOVES to eat. And speaking of eat...we've started rice cereal!!
He's digging it. He's not real sure what to do with it...but he doesn't cry when we feed him. I think he eats half of what we prepare...the other half ends up on his hands or his bib. Here's a 40 minute video (kidding...it's 3 minutes) that Daddy took:
Jack is in size 6-9 months and they fit perfectly. He's also in a snug size 3 diaper. What a BIG, healthy boy! :) We went through a rough patch last week when he started rolling over, but after swaddling and wedging him in his crib (this is tough when your baby is HUGE) he's sleeping better. Bedtime is around 10 and he wakes up around 6 to eat, then goes back to sleep for another hour or two. We've got a pretty good routine going!
He'll get 3 shots plus an oral tomorrow at the doctor. Hoping for no fever (he did great last time) and not too many tears (from Mommy or Jack).

Our Storyteller
Layla has entered into the "story telling" phase of life. It is pretty hilarious. All of our stories have been great, wholesome family stories about puppies, princesses and castles...until last week. I'll just let the videos speak for themselves.
Should I be concerned? LOL

Grandma's Dress
Little Miss Layla was a total rockstar and a perfect subject today. I'm so excited to have this session done after having this dress in my possession for several months. It's about 66 years old...and I don't want to be the one responsible for it. LOL.
My Grandma had her pictures done in this dress when she was a little girl. I imagine going to a photo session was much different then. I remember getting MY picture taken in the dress also. Not much of the specifics, I just felt like a rockstar (hmmmm...wonder where L gets it?). Putting Layla in this dress is so special to me not only because it is my Grandma's dress, but because I got to wear it too and it seems almost like a right of passage. My sweet baby girl is growing up.
I was VEEERY nervous about putting L in the dress for pictures. Mainly because I bribe her with M&Ms when I take her pics and I didn't want to do that with this dress on. She was fine with holding my iPhone and playing games while I got some of the closeups and then sat perfectly still, hands on lap for the rest. I explained to her how "fragile" the dress is. Yes, thanks to Daddy she knows what that means. LOL. She kept twirling the ribbons around her fingers saying "it's so cute" and "I can put my fingers through this dress". ;o)
Here are my favorite pictures from our "session". I'm going to stare at them for the next 15 minutes while Daddy struggles to get her out of the tub and into bed. I just heard a very sharp "NO, I will NOT get out!!!" (of the tub). But just look how precious and sweet she looks in these photos... ;o)

Jack's 3 Month Pictures
We had a mini photo session with Jack today for his 3 month pictures. He's getting so big, I just can't believe he's 3 months already! Once again, it was difficult to do a lot because space is limited and he's SO. BIG. LOL. But I got a few nice ones. Miss Layla even got a little gem on her camera:
LOL. Maybe she'll follow in Mommy's footsteps? I just love this picture so much:
How sweet is that? She was totally in my way the whole time but I didn't want to get frustrated because she was really having fun. I wish we would have gotten her a better camera...these kids cameras take horrible pictures! I can't wait to upgrade her asap.
Anyway, here are the pictures I took of our sweet little 3 month old:
Jack is one drooly boy lately. I don't care, I love it...but I hope he doesn't have as hard of a time teething as his sister. So far they are total opposites so maybe those teeth will just pop through and we'll barely notice? Unlikely I know...but this poor Momma can always dream, right?
That dimple...oh that dimple- I can barely stand it. It is hard to tell in the pics but his eyes are turning brown. They are still super light so maybe they'll be a unique brownish color? Jury is still out on the hair...it has a redish tint just like Layla's but it looks like it might stay dark. It does have a mind of it's own though...I like to call him "Shark Bait" and "Skeeter".
Jack is chatting away now and it makes me so excited to hear his little voice. And he is THISCLOSE to giggling...we've had several mini chuckles but I have a feeling once this kid knows how to laugh, he's going to do it all the time. His hobbies at the moment are flashing his dimples, chatting and looking for sissy. He LOVES to watch her and she loves to tickle his little cheeks. I love hearing her say "oh hi Jaaaack" and "bless you Jaaaack" when he sneezes. These two were meant to be together...they better stay nice and sweet like this forever.
Happy 3 months buddy!

Happy 3 Months Jack!
This video was actually taken last week when he hit 12 weeks...but I forgot to post it. So in celebration of Jack's 3 month birthday- here is Jack chatting with his animals, and Layla gabbering about something in the background. Enjoy!
And here is one of Layla and Jack meeting 3 months ago...makes my heart melt. :)

Jack is 12 weeks!
OK, so it's not official until tomorrow but I had time today to post so...Jack is 12 weeks! I can't believe it. Time is going WAY too fast now. I am SO. IN. LOVE. with this little boy and thank God every day for bringing him into our family. He's absolutely perfect for us, especially for Layla. The two of them are so sweet together, I refuse to recognize that there might be a time when they don't want to cuddle, kiss and coo at each other. I'm in major denial that these two are going to grow up...just let me be that way.
Jack is a big (huge) strong boy. He's a tummy time pro and can hold his head up like a champ. He is also rolling over but he's been doing this since he was 3 days old so I'm not sure when to make the official "call". He doesn't really act like he's doing it on purpose yet so I'll give it a little more time.
Baby boy is in size 3-6 month clothes but getting ready for 6-9 months and is in a size 3 diaper. He's got a great nap time routine going- bed by 10:30, up to eat around 5am and again at 7:30...then up for the day at 9. He still takes several naps during the day but I've noticed in the the last week that he's up for longer periods.
Jack loves to swing which is going to be an issue in the next few weeks as I transition him to napping in his crib. :( He's too big of a baby to be in that swing for much longer. He still eats like a champ and is taking bottles with a little more ease. I'm SO proud to say he's only taken about 5 oz of formula TOTAL so far...and I'm storing tons of milk to *hopefully* donate.
Jack is the sweetest, happiest baby. He only fusses when he's hungry, needs to burp or has a dirty diaper. He's thisclose to giggling...I can't wait to hear those first laughs. Daddy claims he's gotten a few mini giggles...I'll believe it when I hear it. ;o)
So he's our little butterball on the day before he turns 12 weeks. My favorite thing about Jack right now? Those droopy cheeks and that big grin.
